HAUC(UK) Convention gathers to discuss collaboration, connectivity and climate

On 18th-19th May, highway and utility colleagues gathered virtually from across the country to chart the prospects for collaboration, connectivity and climate up to 2025.

Speakers included the Welsh Deputy Minister for Climate Change, Lee Waters MS, who delivered a poignant speech about meeting net zero targets, sustainable transport, and how the Welsh Government is looking to address these challenges. Other speakers ranged from government to the utility sector, and dug into issues around delivering services in a joined up way, advancing methods of delivery, and current challenges to the industry. This included a particularly striking presentation from Jonny Moran of Transport Scotland, on protecting road workers on a live network, and in depth discussions from several speakers on the impact of climate change.

HAUC(UK) carbon offset the deliveries of the refreshments and merchandising for the Convention. They offset 6.36 tonnes of carbon dioxide by supporting Gold Standard Community Based Carbon Reduction Projects, through the organisation Carbon Footprint.

Talks from the two days can be watched again here via the Convention agenda, which also gives details of the topics and speakers from the event.
