Assets Coordination Officer (Traffic Sensors) - Location Birmingham

We’re looking for a proactive, well-organised individual with excellent administrative and interpersonal skills — if that sounds like you, we want to hear from you.

Our Data Management team have a brand-new role for an Assets Coordination Officer (Traffic Sensors) to gather an evidence base that will shape our long-term sensor strategy. Traffic sensors play a vital role in improving how the transport network operates, enhancing safety, and providing the data needed to understand and manage traffic patterns.

As Assets Coordination Officer, you’ll develop a clear picture of the types of sensors across our network, the costs involved, their current issues, and who is using them — all to support a 5–10-year plan. Day to day, you’ll be proactive in raising and resolving sensor issues, liaising with local authority partners to aid in the permitting process, managing new sensor requests, and working closely with our Data Engineering team to ensure data is effectively managed and remains accurate.

You’ll also engage with users to understand their needs, recommend the best approaches, and present your findings and improvement suggestions to the Sensor Coordination Working Group.
