Street and Road Works (Charges and Penalties) – What’s Changing in 2025?
SI 2025/1074, officially titled The Street and Road Works (Charges and Penalties) (Amendments) (England) Regulations 2025, introduces important updates to how street works and road works are managed across England. These changes aim to improve compliance, reduce disruption, and ensure that road users benefit from better-maintained infrastructure.
Overview of the Regulations
These amendments, laid before Parliament on 13 October 2025, will come into force on 5 January 2026. They apply to England only and are made under powers granted by the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Traffic Management Act 2004.
