Welcome to our monthly update on the National Underground Asset Register (NUAR), an interactive digital map of underground pipes and cables from the Geospatial Commission. It gives planners and excavators standardised access to the data they need, when they need it, to carry out their work effectively and safely. You can find out more on GOV.UK.
Last chance to suggest ideas for our Discovery project!
Over 100 people from around 100 organisations have already participated in our NUAR Discovery workshops over the last two months, exploring the potential benefits of widening access to NUAR and the constraints surrounding new propositions. During this time, we have extended an open invitation to participate in the process or suggest ideas. However, as we now progress to the exciting stage of analysing all the feedback received, we will no longer be accepting new suggestions from 29 April.
The NUAR team will be working closely with asset owners and other stakeholders to further develop the ideas emerging, that prove to be both feasible and of value. We will also continue to welcome suggestions and feedback in relation to the NUAR programme as a whole. However, for your last chance to feed ideas into this stage of NUAR Discovery, please email [email protected].
Help shape the policy surrounding NUAR
In the coming months, we will be seeking views from stakeholders, on various topics surrounding the policy we are developing for NUAR. If you would like to contribute and inform our thinking, you can register your interest here.
NUAR at the Cambridge Festival
The NUAR team ran a live demo of the platform at the Cambridge Festival last month, which combines an eclectic mix of events and activities for all ages, focusing on the themes of Society, Health, Environment and Discovery.
You can see a picture of our ‘Excavation simulator’ below, which was a big hit with our younger (and some older!) participants.
