This season, we’re placing a spotlight on the ‘P’ for Prepare. As temperatures drop and conditions worsen, we’re encouraging drivers to get winter-ready before they set off – because a few simple checks can make all the different in keeping journeys safe and stress-free.
Every year, winter weather contributes to a sharp rise in incidents and disruption. Breakdowns on motorways and major A-roads have increased by 21% over the last five years, with more than 67,000 incidents recorded between December 2024 and February 2025 alone. Slippery roads continue to be a major factor in serious collisions during this period.
This campaign aims to help prevent those avoidable incidents. While we work to prepare the network – from gritting and salting to managing snow and ice – we’re asking drivers to do the same by planning ahead, checking conditions, and packing essential winter supplies before starting long journeys.
The attached toolkit provides ready-to-use assets for your channels and networks. By sharing these messages, you can help your colleagues, customers, members, and local communities take the simple steps needed to prepare for winter conditions and make a real impact in keeping roads moving safely.
