Leeds Council seeks approval from the Department for Transport (DfT) for proposals to introduce lane rental schemes on around 10% of its road network.

as reported in Highways Magazine

The schemes would apply to the city’s busiest roads at peak times, with charges of up to £2,500 per day for works carried out during these periods. The aim is to minimise disruption by encouraging utility providers and other companies to schedule works outside of peak hours.

If approved by the DfT, the council expects the scheme to be operational by spring 2026
