Working Group - Road to Net Zero

The Street Works and Road Works Sectors play a pivotal role in the UK’s infrastructure, facilitating approximately 2.5 million street works and road works annually. As the nation strives to meet its ambitious Net Zero emissions target by 2050, our sector is taking decisive action. We are spearheading a coordinated approach to significantly reduce carbon emissions embedded in our processes and products, aligning with the targets set by local authorities. With the government’s ambitious target of a 68% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030, urgent action is imperative to effect meaningful change.

A Carbon Calculator has been developed to standardise the data collected and reported by the UK street works and road works sectors. It was also developed to help define accurate baseline emissions, which will in turn be used in decarbonisation goals and projections.
